Here is a lovely vintage Staffordshire England Teacup and Saucer with a Gold Scallop and Pink Rosebuds by Crownford Bone China. The 1/2-inch to 1-inch wide fluted rim flares outward slightly above the inverted scallops defined by a gold dotted line, with a 1/4-inch vertical gold line between each scallop. The bottom of the cup has four sprays of tight pink rosebuds with green stems and leaves. The matching saucer is also scalloped with alternating defining lines of three and five gold dots, with the same rosebuds circling the cup ring. The cup handle and the rims of both pieces are outlined with gold.
The uniquely shaped teacup measures 2-3/4 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter across the fluted and scalloped rim, with another inch for the handle. The flat foot is 1-7/8 inches in diameter. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
Made by Crownford Bone China between 1989 and 1994, both pieces are stamped in black with a crown followed by “Crownford, Made in England, Fine Bone China.” Crownford was formed by the merger of the Rosina and Elizabethan China Companies in 1989.
There is a pinpoint pit to the left of the handle on the cup, and the tiniest edge nick on the back of the saucer. There is only minimal wear to the gold around the rim. The spots near the rim in the photos are sticker residue that has been removed.
