This darling gray covered dish by Earl China, Hoenig of California Pottery is pumpkin shaped with wide molded ribs. The handles on the sides are shaped and molded to resemble leaves, and the top finial is a curled stem. The pumpkin bowl is an all-over slate gray. The contrasting cover is white, and the stem finial is the same gray as the body.
Great for Halloween candy or a small soup tureen or cookie jar, this covered dish is a fun example of vintage Mid-Century California Pottery.
The bowl measures 4-inches tall, 5-1/4 inches with the cover, and 6-1/2 inches in diameter, 8-inches with the handles.
Made by Hoenig of California circa the 1950s, the impressed mark is in handwritten script "Earl China, Hoenig of California." There are additional illegible letters or numerals below.
Other than normal shelf wear on the bottom, there are no condition issues.
