This lovely pale yellow Paragon Bone China Cup and Saucer with pink roses and blue flowers has a scalloped 10-sided shape. The numbered pattern, S6507, features a floral motif of a large pale pink rose with blue anemone flowers accented with leaves and smaller flowers in matching colors. The large design decorates the front of the cup and one side of the saucer. A smaller, matching design is on the back of the cup, the inside of the cup, and the opposite side of the saucer. On a pale creamy yellow background, the set is uniquely tinted with a pale pink ground added to the outside of the cup but not the saucer. Both the cup and the saucer are scalloped and trimmed with gold. Delightfully, both pieces have alternating panels with a very subtle lattice design in the mould.
The Double Warrant backstamp reads: "Paragon, By Appointment to HM the Queen & HM Queen Mary, Fine Bone China, England Regd." (Both Royal Warrants were issued by the respective Queens in the 1930's.) A hand written number "S6507" is also on the back of the saucer. This mark was used by Paragon from 1938 to 1952.
This delicate cup measures 2-1/2 inches tall, and 3-5/8 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle. It has a 1-5/8 inch diameter foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
The saucer has a 3/8-inch rough spot at one of the points where it looks like the glaze didn't quite set properly. There are two similar pin-head sized spots along the edge of the back. Other than minor wear on the gold, there are no other condition issues on either piece.
