This gorgeous Crackle Glass Amberina Red Glass Cruet with a Double Ball Stopper is Number 891 by Rainbow Glass. The rich clear red color is spotlighted by the random angles of the crackles reflecting the light beautifully. The bent and slightly ruffled rim is edged in golden yellow glass, and the curled and applied handle is also a clear golden yellow. The double ball stopper is a deep ruby red with no crackling.
This sweet mid-century cruet measures 5-inches tall, 6-3/4 inches with the stopper. The stopper itself is just over 3-inches long. The cruet is 2-3/4 inches in diameter, 3-1/2 inches including the handle.
Made by Rainbow Art Glass between 1954 and 1973, there is a rough pontil mark on the bottom that is not sharp.
There is a 1/16-inch shallow nick along the inside edge of the rim at the top of the bend that forms the pouring spout, and the bottom of the stopper is rough around the edge. The many lines in the crackling can be felt on the outside, which is part of the design. There are no other condition issues.
