This fine quality Paragon Bone China #A2999/4L Teacup and Saucer features a central yellow rose with a pastel pink border and exquisite gold overlay. A yellow rose backed by green foliage decorates the center of the saucer and the center bottom of the cup. The rose is on a deep pink stem, and a rosebud in the same deep pink peeks out from behind the yellow flower. The 1-1/2-inch wide pale pastel pink scalloped rim is covered with a detailed gold filigree motif of a single rose and foliage repeated a dozen times around the saucer and nine times on the inside of the cup. A small daisy-like flower is also in each design near the bottom. The rims are edged with gold, and the handle of the cup is also gold decorated.
The tea cup measures 2-1/8 inches tall and 3-7/8 inches in diameter across the fluted rim with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 1-3/4-inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
The back stamp in black shows the lion and unicorn Royal Arms and reads: "By Appointment To Her Majesty The Queen, China Potters, Paragon, Fine Bone China, England Regd." This mark was used on Paragon Bone China between 1957 and 1963. A couple of gold artist's marks are on each piece, and a handwritten number in red "A2999/4L." is also on the back of the saucer.
There are no condition issues. Even the gold is still bright and clear. It is even difficult to photograph because it reflects nearby colors!
