This pair of Shawnee Milk Can Salt and Pepper Shakers still have their original 39¢ price tags on the bottom! Decorated with five-petaled red flowers with blue centers around the shoulder of the milk can and a pale red band around the top, each shaker has a painted blue handle with a brown grip and a strip of brown across the rounded finial on top. Each has three holes in the top, and the original cork in the bottom.
The original red and gold foil labels with the Arrowhead logo are on the front of each shaker. The label reads "Shawnee China Underglaze, Hand Painted." The original "Beedle Bros. 5¢ to $1.00 Stores" 39¢ PR price tags on the bottoms of the original corks make this set a treasure! A Sears Roebuck 1945 Catalog advertised these shakers at 47¢ a pair, so Beedle Brothers must have been quite competitive!
Made by Shawnee during the early 1940s, each shaker measures 3-1/2 inches tall and 1-3/4 inches in diameter.
There are no condition issues.
