Libbey made these commemorative Highball Tumblers with 22 Karat gold and aqua riverboats for Southern Comfort for their 1968 Centennial. On rectangular backgrounds, steamboats paddle along the river in aqua and 22 Karat gold. One boat's golden paddlewheel has the initials SC for Southern Comfort in the center while another boat is backed with stunning shiny gold. Two flowers accent the design, and a gold band around the rim completes these glasses.
Offered here in Sets of Four, the Highball is the size and shape of a typical water tumbler. Each tumbler measures 5-1/2 inches tall and 2-3/4 inches in diameter.
The embossed Libbey "L" is on the bottom of most of the tumblers and "SC" for Southern Comfort" is in the design. Three of the tumblers are slightly different than the other nine. These three each have a concave bottom with no mark and a slightly wider band of gold at the top. These three will be distributed among the three sets of four.
Made by Libbey circa 1968, the gold is well worn in varying degrees as you would expect in glassware of this age, but as a set they are gorgeous.
These Commemorative glasses are a wonderful example of Hollywood Regency style, and will be a magnificent addition to any bar set.
