The Elegant Glass Chintz pattern by Fostoria, here in a crystal Footed Cream and Sugar, has been beloved by many brides over the years. The Chintz pattern is Fostoria's Etch Number 338 on Blank No. 2496 known as Baroque. The Chintz etch is an all over pattern of trailing flowers similar to moss roses, with lots of tiny thorns and mossy leaves, accompanied by vines of 7 to 10 leaves scattered throughout the pattern. The Baroque blank has a raised stylized shape similar to a Fleur de Lis on both sides of each heavy piece near the bottom.
The sugar is 3-1/2 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches in diameter, 5-1/4 inches across the handles. The creamer is 3-3/4 inches tall, and 3-3/8 inches in diameter, 5-1/8 across the handle and lip. The foot on each is 2 inches in diameter.
The popular Chintz pattern was made by Fostoria from 1940 into the early 1970s.
There is no damage to either piece other than a few surface scratches in the bottom of the sugar consistent with use.
