Libbey made these commemorative Square-Footed Stemmed Cocktail Glasses with 22 Karat gold and aqua riverboats for Southern Comfort for their 1968 Centennial. On rectangular backgrounds, three steamboats paddle along the river in aqua and 22 Karat gold. One riverboat's golden paddlewheel has the initials SC for Southern Comfort in the center, while another is backed with stunning shiny gold. Two flowers accent the design, and a narrow gold band around the rim completes these glasses.
Each of these stemmed cocktails measures 4-1/8 inches tall, and the bowl of the glass is 2-3/8 inches deep. Each is 2-7/8 inches in diameter across the rim, with a 2-1/4 inch square foot.
The embossed Libbey "L" is on several of the matching tumblers in this pattern, but it is missing from the bottom of these. "SC" for Southern Comfort" is in the design on each.
Made by Libbey circa 1968, the wear on the gold varies from well worn on some fairly good shape on others, as you would expect in glassware of this age. As a set they are a gorgeous display with the striking combination of gold and aqua.
These Commemorative glasses are a wonderful example of Hollywood Regency style, and will be a magnificent addition to any bar set.
