This Geschutzt plate from Germany is a standout with its red florals contrasted with a stunning Ribbon of Gold around the rim! The intricate scalloped rim has embossed swirls and scrolls and is drizzled with a lavish ribbon of gold. The plate is dotted with the delicate red blossoms of a flowering tree.
This gorgeous porcelain plate measures 8-3/8 inches in diameter.
It is marked in sepia over the glaze with the words "Geschützt Made in Germany" in an ellipse. The word "Geschutzt" means protected from copying. This mark indicates the plate was made between 1899 and 1945 and by the style it was likely made in the early 1900s.
There are three extremely tiny hairline edge cracks. The longest of these is 3 mm. They are nearly equidistant around the plate suggesting that they may have been caused by a plate hanger. There are also two extremely tiny edge chips that are nearly imperceptible. The largest of these is 4 mm. They blend right into the swirls and embossing of the rim on this lovely display piece. Please examine the photos carefully.
