This sweet black glass bonbon with the heart-shaped center handle was first produced as Number 81 by Greensburg before that company was acquired by LE Smith in the 1920s. LE Smith continued producing this pretty little candy dish into the 1930s. There is no mark.
Made from opaque black glass, the turned-up rim is notched in six equidistant places, and the heart-shaped center handle adds a sweetly romantic touch.
There are creases and tiny bubble-like bumps in the glass, typical of this era due to the manufacturing process. There is no damage.
The bonbon measures 7-1/8 inches in diameter, and about 2-1/4 inches tall including the handle. The rim turns up about an inch from the table surface.
