This Violet Chintz set of salt and pepper shakers from Lefton features an all-over pattern of delicate purple violets with bright green leaves and paler green tendrils. The top of each shaker is decorated with a stylized flower done in gold.
Produced by Lefton China in the early to mid-1950s, this pattern is known as Violet Chintz.
Each porcelain shaker measures 2-inches in diameter at the base, slightly tapered toward the top, and the height is about 2-1/2 inches.
Each bears the blue crown Lefton mark which dates from 1949 to 1955 and reads "Lefton China Hand Painted Reg. U.S. Pat Off." surrounding the crown. Each shaker is also stamped in black with 665V.
Each shows some minor wear on the gold. One shaker has the cork pushed up inside, the other is empty with no cork. There are no other condition issues.
