There are so many things to love about this C958 Aynsley Bone China Teacup and Saucer with its Gold Fleur-De-Lis motif, bright green color, and lovely violets inside! Following the Aynsley tradition of outstanding quality and attention to detail, a sweet bouquet of lifelike purple violets decorates the inside rim of the teacup. In gradually blended shades from lavender to deep purple, fully opened violets and those in bud are clustered among green leaves to stretch and bend on slender green stems. Two large, white flowers are nestled within the violet bouquet.
A 1-inch wide white rim tops the outside of the cup and the outer rim of the saucer. An intricate gold repeating fleur-de-lis overlay covers the rims, with speckles of gold surrounding the emblems. Scallops and gold fringe disguise the line where the white rims meet the solid emerald green band around the base of the cup and the inner rim of the saucer. The scalloped rims of both pieces, as well as the handle, foot, and cup ring of the saucer are trimmed in gold.
The slender teacup stands just over 2-5/8 inches tall and 3-1/4 inches in diameter at the rim, tapering to a 1-7/8 inch shallow foot. The matching saucer measures 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
Made by Aynsley circa 1934-1939, both pieces are stamped with a green crown above the Aynsley Banner, followed by "England Bone China." The pattern number C958 is written by hand on the saucer.
There is a bit of wear on the gold on the top of the cup handle consistent with use. There are a couple of minuscule dots of extra gold in the green of the saucer.
Other than expected shelf wear, there are no other condition issues.
