This Napcoware Clown Planter Head Vase C3321 will make a great gift! This happy clown is characterized by his wide, red grin outlined in white. He has a protruding red nose and big blue eyes under brown wing-like eyebrows. His orange-red hair is embossed in columns on the back, and a pair of curly tufts perch above his ears that protrude out to the sides. He wears a ruffled white collar with red polka dots and a green cap with a gold speckled pompom on the side.
This head vase measures 6-inches tall, and it is about 3-1/4 by 4-1/4 inches wide. The opening is approximately 2-1/8 inches in diameter, and the base is 2-3/4 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
From Napco circa the 1950s to the early 1960s, it is stamped in black "C3321®” followed by “Napcoware" in an oval. Though the paper label is long gone, similar items have labels that define Napco as National Potteries Corporation, Bedford, Ohio, importer of products made in Japan.
There is a small 1mm nick on the inside top edge and the vase needs a little cleaning inside. There are four or five white glaze flakes off the red nose and some minor wear on one eyebrow. There are bits of the green paint on the orange hair just below the back of the hat.
