From the Sonnet Series, here is the lovely Royal Albert Bone China Chaucer Cup and Saucer. On the intriguing Victoria shape, both the teacup and the saucer are decorated with windswept bouquets of pink and soft yellow flowers with pastel green leaves. The bouquets adorn three places on the saucer and the front, back, and inside of the teacup. The front of the cup and one side of the saucer rim have the largest arrangements, with smaller sprays decorated the remaining places. The scalloped rim of the saucer is highlighted with embossed scrolls, while the rim of the cup is smooth. The high, fancy handle and the rims of both pieces are trimmed with gold as is the raised foot.
The Victoria shape teacup is 2-7/8 inches tall, the handle is about another 3/8-inch above the rim. It is 2-7/8 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle, and widens to 3-5/8 inches at its widest before tapering to a narrow waist at the 1-7/8 inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter and about an inch deep.
The mark is a color miniature of the floral motif followed by "Royal Albert Bone China England" then by “Sonnet Series Chaucer” and finished with “©Royal Albert LTD 1983.” This series was introduced by Royal Albert China in 1983 and discontinued in 1994.
There is a small, old, smooth chip, visible in the photo, on the underside of the foot that does not affect stability. There are no other condition issues.
