Another wonderful example of the fine quality of Royal Albert Bone China is offered here in this Shaftesbury Yellow Teacup and Saucer from the Festival Series on the Gainesborough Shape. The pretty Gainsborough shape has fluted and pleated panels that form a scalloped edge. On a sunny yellow ground, both the teacup and the saucer are decorated with lively bouquets of blue and pink flowers with bountiful green leaves. The bouquets adorn three places on the saucer and the front, back, and inside of the teacup. Accents of white foliage outlined in pale gray are scattered over the yellow background. The fancy handle and the rims of both pieces are trimmed with gold as is the raised foot.
The footed cup is 3-inches tall, and 3-5/8 inch diameter at the fluted rim, with a 1-3/4 inch diameter scalloped foot. The matching saucer is just shy of 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
Made by Royal Albert China during the 1970s and 1980s, the mark is a color miniature of the floral motif followed by "Royal Albert Bone China England" in light brown, followed by “Festival Series” in green and “Shaftesbury."
The only condition issue is an extra spot of yellow in the cup well of the saucer.
