Hazel Atlas produced this distinctive Moroccan Amethyst color, here in the Octagonal Cup and Saucer, during the 1960s. In signature Mid-Century style, these eight-sided pieces have no other decoration than the rich purple color of Moroccan Amethyst. The foot of each cup has the octagon shape with a rib coming two-thirds of the way up the side. The top of the cup is round.
Each cup measures 2-1/4 inches tall and 3-5/8 inches in diameter across the top extending another inch with the handle. The matching saucer is 6-inches in diameter, 6-3/8 inches corner to corner.
Hazel-Atlas had become Hazel Ware after being acquired by Continental Can in 1957 and produced many shapes in Moroccan Amethyst during the 1960s. There is no mark.
Any surface scratches are truly minimal. One saucer has a smooth, small nick on the underside of the foot by the seam. This is truly negligible and could be a popped bubble. Other than the expected flaws characteristic of vintage glass, such as bubbles, creases, or other irregularities, there is no other damage.
