This striking 1930s Black Amethyst Satin Glass Vase was made by Tiffin Glass in the Poppy pattern. The pattern, sometimes called "Poppies," is recognizable by its beautifully detailed large raised poppies that grow up the sides and encircle the black satin glass of the vase. A gorgeous purple color shows through when this vase is held to the light. The texture of the satin glass is lovely to the touch.
This vintage vase measures 7 inches in diameter at the widest, the opening and the foot are each 3 inches in diameter, and it is 5-1/2 inches tall.
Made by Tiffin Glass of Ohio during the 1930s, it is not marked.
There is a pinhead sized nick on the edge of the rim, and some tiny white marks that are magnified in the photos. Some of these are dust, and the few that are actually on the vase truly do not show up even on close examination.
This vase is a match to another I have listed. Though I normally list matching items together, this one is listed separately because of the difference in the amethyst color. The purple shows through much more clearly on this vase. Both vases look lovely together.
