This Napco 3-piece Umbrella Set features pink porcelain roses applied to all three pieces. The standing umbrella has two roses accented with gold-tipped slate green leaves and small yellow buds, while the matching umbrella shaped dishes have one pink applied rose and a tiny bud, with the same gold tipped green leaves and small yellow buds. Originally intended as a smoking set, this would make a darling dresser set today! Rather than cigarettes, use the standing umbrella for eyeliner and brushes, while the matching dishes could hold small earrings or hair ornaments.
Made by Napco circa the 1940's to 1960's, the pattern number S1302 is stamped on all three pieces. All three have the Napco foil silver label that reads "A Napco Ceramic, Japan."
Each ashtray or pin dish is 3-3/4 inches in diameter and 1-inch deep. The standing umbrella is 6-1/2 inches high with the handle, 2-3/4 inches tall to the top of the porcelain umbrella part, and has a diameter of 2-5/8 inches.
All three pieces show non-discolored crazing. The standing umbrella has three darkened age spots, and one of the dishes has a place where the applied porcelain rose shows a line of separation from the dish (but is still firmly attached,) while the other has one dark age spot.
