Offered for your consideration is a lovely Royal Albert Bone China Teacup and Saucer decorated with Blue and White Flowers and a Red Rosebud on the Chelsea Shape. The pretty floral motif on this set is unlike any rose in existence, consisting of a fully open pale blue six-petaled flower, a smaller creamy white flower, and a burgundy-red rosebud. The flowers are backed by realistic-looking leaves, similar to those on a rosebush, and sprigs of other greenery. This motif is found on the front and the back of the teacup, and on the left side of the saucer. A smaller version of the same floral motif is repeated in two places on the right side of the saucer, and the inside rim of the teacup. The lovely Chelsea-shaped cup is widely fluted and scalloped with a band of narrow ribs around the bottom of the cup. The scalloped edges and the foot and the handle of the cup are all gold-trimmed.
There is a 1/8-inch dark mark in the bottom of the cup and there is the tiniest, almost imperceptible indentation along the underside of the rim of the saucer. This is more easily felt than seen, can’t be seen from the top, and does not impact the gold trim.
The teacup is 2-7/8 inches tall, the handle is about another 1/8-inch above the rim. It is 3-1/2 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle and tapers down to stand on a 1-3/4 inch foot. The matching Saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter and about an inch deep.
The back stamp is a black crown, followed by the words "Royal Albert" in block letters, "Bone China" in script, and "England" in smaller block letters. This mark was used by Royal Albert China from the 1970s to the 1980s.
