This sweet Pink and Blue Floral Bone China Teacup and Saucer bears the Royal Vale trademark of Ridgway Potteries, England. Clusters of pink, blue, and white, hydrangea-like flowers backed by deep green leaves nearly cover this beautiful cup and saucer set. The flowers stretch across the front of the teacup, and a single pink cluster adorns the back. The inside top of the cup is decorated with a matching smaller pink and blue spray. The saucer is decorated with matching clusters in three places around the rim. The scalloped rims of both the saucer and cup, as well as the handle and foot of the cup, are all trimmed with gold.
The teacup measures 2-3/4 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 1-3/4 inch shallow foot. The matching saucer is just under 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
The saucer is stamped in black with a crown over an oval. “Royal Vale Bone China” flanked by an F and a 5 are inside the oval, with “Made in England” below. This trademark was first used by Ridgway Potteries around 1955. The cup is stamped with “Royal Vale” in red beneath a black crown and Bone China D7, followed by “Made in England, A Product of Ridgway Potteries, Ltd.” This mark was introduced in 1962.
There is an indentation inside the cup well in the saucer. This indentation is about 1/4-inch long and about 1/8-inch wide. There is an extra bump of porcelain on the handle of the cup, and the top inside of the cup handle feels a bit rough where it attaches to the cup, but there is no visible damage there. Vintage pieces are not perfect and may show minor flaws, but I do my best to describe any imperfection. There are no other noticeable condition issues.
