Elegant Fostoria Glass from the Depression Era is becoming increasingly scarce, and this Set of Two Orchid Twisted Stem 5097 Champagnes or Tall Sherbets is a great find! Blank #5097 stemware has a lovely twisted spiral stem that forms a 6-petaled flower at the top and bottom of the stem where it joins the foot to the bowl. Each of these tall sherbets features a wide, bell-shaped, paneled optic, orchid purple glass bowl on a clear, twisted stem. This color combination on Blank 5097 was only made from 1927 to 1929 and is therefore rarely seen. When pinged, the ringing sound of the glass is like a delicate chime.
Perfect for champagne, these would make a unique and thoughtful gift for the bride and groom at a vintage wedding!
Each sherbet measures 4-1/8 inches tall. Perched on a 2-7/8-inch foot, the bowl is about 2-1/4 inches deep and 4-inches at the rim.
Made by Fostoria only from 1927-1929, there is no mark.
There is an occasional small bubble in the glass. This manufacturing flaw is typical of vintage glassware. There are no other condition issues.
