From the Royal Albert Pompadour Series, a lovely Bone China Chelsea Shape Teacup and Saucer offered here in Turquoise. The beautiful Chelsea-shaped cup is widely fluted and scalloped with narrow ribs around the bottom of the cup. This one is in a deep teal, called Turquoise, that covers the lower half of the teacup and the center of the saucer. A wide scalloped rim, ranging from 1 to 1-1/4 inches, in a creamy off-white tops the cup and the outer rim of the saucer. An intricate gold floral overlay covers the line where the two colors meet. The same gold filigree rings the inner rim of the teacup. The scalloped edges, as well as the foot and the handle of the cup, are all generously gold-trimmed.
The elegant teacup is 2-7/8 inches tall, the handle is about another 1/4-inch above the rim. It is 3-5/8 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle and tapers down to stand on a 1-7/8 inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter and about an inch deep.
The back stamp is a black crown, followed by the words "Royal Albert" in block letters, "Bone China" in script, and "England" in smaller block letters. “Pompadour Series” is stamped in deep pink beneath the word England.
This series was made by Royal Albert China during the 1960s and 1970s.
There is a 1-inch stray line of gold curving up from the filigree design around the cup. The gold shows very little wear, and there are no other condition issues.
