The sunny spring daffodil on these Jonquil bread and butter plates from Universal Cambridge will brighten any kitchen with vintage charm! Each sweet plate in creamy white bears a single large Daffodil with one tight bud. The embossed edge of the Laurella shape features two different pretty bows nestled at intervals around the rim in the vine that rings each piece.
Each plate measures 6-1/2 inches in diameter. Two of the plates have normal expected wear, surface scratches, and minor non discolored crazing. A third plate has a truly small area of smooth (old) edge roughness that is not easily noticed. The fourth plate has a quarter-sized raised area of crazing that has begun to discolor.
Each plate bears the green underglaze, circular backstamp of the "National Brotherhood of Operative Potters," the Labor Union of the time headquartered in Ohio. The outer ring of the circle reads "Laurella/Universal Cambridge, O." "Oven Proof/Made in U.S.A." rings the outside of the circle and completes the mark. This "National Brotherhood of Operative Potters," mark was used on wares of many different Ohio potteries between 1940 and 1955.
The price is for all four plates together. There are other pieces of this cheerful pattern also offered in my shop. Thank you for visiting MaggieBelle's Memories!
