A nearly 1-inch wide 22K-gold band with a design of flowers and scrolls around the rim sets these magnificent Tyrol HiBall Tumblers by Culver Glass above any others. Culver used a secret process to produce a luxurious, three-dimensional textured pattern of layered gold on their glassware. Raised clear textured glass lines drip down beneath the gold band like icicles, a technique also distinctively recognizable as Culver. One look at this set of three Tyrol glasses and it is easy to see why ornately decorated glassware by Culver has become some of the most sought-after of vintage Hollywood Regency Mid-Century barware.
It is difficult to find vintage Mid-Century Culver glass without wear to the many layers of gold, but there is only minor gold loss, if any, here. The textured gold on each glass may show some patina, but all are still shiny and retain the signature Culver texture. There are no chips or cracks. Due to the delicacy of the textured gold, all Culver Glass was recommended by the manufacturer to be washed by hand.
Each of these straight-sided tumblers measures 5-1/2 inches tall and 2-3/4 inches in diameter.
This pattern was made by Culver from the 1960s to the 1980s. Marks were eliminated as the years progressed, in favor of paper labels. Since these are unsigned, they are likely from the 70s or 80s, when the company used paper labels instead of the signature.
Culver glassware makes a great Father's Day gift!
