Introduced for the month of September in the earlier Flower of the Month Series, here is the Morning Glory Number 9 Teacup and Saucer by Royal Albert Bone China. Sprays of lovely blue Morning Glory blossoms on intertwined vines with heart-shaped green leaves are on both the front and back of the Hampton shape cup. The gently scalloped rims of both the teacup and the saucer are edged with gold. The inside rim of the cup and the foot are ringed with gold, and the handle is also gold trimmed. The saucer has two matching Morning Glory vines, one larger and with more blossoms than the other and covering much of the saucer.
The teacup measures 3-inches in diameter and 2-3/4 inches tall, 3-inches to the top of the handle. The scalloped saucer is 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
Both pieces are stamped with the black crown followed by the words "Royal Albert Bone China England, Flower of the Month Series, Set of Twelve, ‘Morning Glory’ No. 9, Hand Painted." This series was issued by Royal Albert China during the 1950s into the 1960s.
When held under black light the cup shows what appears to be a 1/4-inch hairline coming down from the rim, but I can not see it in natural light, even under a magnifying glass. The cup still pings beautifully. There is also a tiny rough spot on the thumb rest of the handle, but the gold is over this spot. There are two dark spots about the size of a pinhead near the rim of the saucer. There are no other condition issues. The condition is reflected in the price.
This will make a lovely gift for that September lady in your life!
