Offered here is the absolutely stunning Royalty Gold Bone China Teacup and Saucer by Royal Albert. The Royalty pattern in gold truly lives up to its name. On the Hampton shape, multicolor arrangements of raised enameled flowers in blue, red, golden yellow, and green adorn the front and back of the teacup and four places on the saucer. Each arrangement is framed with gold that forms a flared, flame-like border. The solid gold border is interrupted by panels of scrolls, and a band of white dots circles the rim of each piece. The cup handle and foot are also gold trimmed.
The teacup measures 3-inches in diameter and 2-3/4 inches tall, 3-inches to the top of the handle. The scalloped saucer is 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
Made by Royal Albert China circa the 1930s, both pieces are marked with the Royal Albert Flared Crown backstamp in gold. The words Bone China flank the crown, with Royal Albert above and England below. “Royalty” is written in gold script, and there is a purple T artist’s mark on each piece.
There is a 1/2-inch bit of roughness under the gold on the rim of the cup, and minor wear on the gold consistent with age. There are a few utensil marks and surface scratches, but there is no other damage to this wonderful piece.
