Formal Black and White Bone China is exquisitely made by Paragon and presented in this Teacup and Saucer #S1587 with the Double Warrant Backstamp. In striking black and white, this elegant saucer has a white rim and black center. The matching teacup has a white interior and foot, while the outside and the handle are black. Both scalloped pieces are trimmed in gold around the rim and on the foot of the cup.
The teacup measures 2-1/8 inches tall and 4-inches in diameter across the scalloped rim with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 1-7/8 inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
This piece was made by Paragon between 1938 and 1952. It is stamped with the Double Warrant backstamp in brown that reads: "Paragon, By Appointment to HM the Queen & HM Queen Mary, Fine Bone China, England Regd." Both Royal Warrants were issued by the respective Queens in the 1930's. A hand written number "S 1587/6" is also on the back of the saucer.
There is a small 1/8-inch spot along the rim of the cup opposite the handle where the white shows through. This area is smooth and is not a chip. There is minimal wear on the gold, and a few small expected surface scratches, but no other condition issues.
