This spectacular Eagle on Nest Basket was made by Westmoreland in Blue Milk Glass with Amber Glass Eyes. In beautiful sky blue milk glass with swirls of white, the cover of this oval shaped dish is a magnificent eagle with spread wings protecting her brood of three eaglet chicks. The detail and texture of the feathers molded into the glass shows Westmoreland's top quality, but you'll agree that the most striking feature may be the amber glass eyes that seem to see all. The bottom of the bowl or box is equally detailed with a fancy lace edge around the rim.
This Westmoreland Eagle is especially hard to find in Blue Milk Glass. The bowl measures 7-7/8 inches long by 6-3/8 inches wide. The bottom is 3-1/4 inches tall. The top with the eagle is approximately 4-1/4 inches tall, and together the two pieces are about 7-inches tall.
This stunning piece was made by Westmoreland circa the 1950s to the1970s. The embossed mark is the intertwined WG mark.
A truly outstanding piece, there are no condition issues.
