This Libbey Top Hat Mid Century Cocktail Set in the Original Box is a rare find! All pieces are present with the original box, including the paper "Top Hat Tips" with cocktail recipes. The box includes the four glass items, the paper "Tips," two plastic cocktail stirrers, and an unopened matching packet of paper napkins. Each glass piece has four different hats in gold and black. The servers have a rectangular background for each of the hats of frosted white, while the cocktail stems frame each hat in gold. The servers or pitchers have a band of gold around the top, and the matching glasses have gold on the rim. In addition to the Top Hat and cane, the three other hats are a Jockey cap with crop, a high Marching band hat with a trumpet, and a Fireman's helmet with an ax. All four glass pieces are perched on Libbey's 6-lobed stem.
The cocktail servers are 6-3/4 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches across the spout on a 3-inch foot. The bowl of each of these pitchers is about 5 inches deep. The matching stemmed cocktail glasses are 3-7/8 inches tall and 2-5/8 inches across the lip on a 2-3/8 inch foot. The box measures 12-inches by 12-inches by 4-1/8 inches.
Love how the box top reads "Libbey Every-day Crystal!" One side of the box reads "Top Hat Cocktail Set." The Libbey script L logo is also on the box. This set was made by Libbey circa the 1960s.
The box is badly damaged and dusty inside and out, but the glassware is like new with no damage. The napkins are yellowed but still in the unopened package. Glass items will be carefully packed separately for shipping. What a clever gift for the bride and groom at a vintage wedding!
