Offered here is a lovely amber Paneled Optic Depression Glass Pedestal Bowl with a Rolled and Etched Rim. The bowl itself has a wide-paneled optic culminating in a deeply etched rolled rim. The etch is unusual because the design is created with a series of vertical lines making scrolled and curling shapes around the rim. The design is bordered with a row of tiny dots.
This pretty footed bowl measures 3-1/2 inches tall by 6-1/2 inches in diameter across the rolled rim. The foot is 3-inches in diameter.
There is no mark.
There is a 1/4-inch by 1/8 inch rectangular indentation on the outside of the glass that can be felt. It is difficult to imagine how this could be a chip. It is much more likely that the unfinished bowl came in contact with a hot tool during the manufacturing process. Other than the expected flaws characteristic of Depression Era Glass, such as bubbles, minor surface scratches, or other irregularities, there is no damage.
A similarly shaped bowl is pictured in a book on Central Glass Works circa 1930s. I'm so happy you stopped by Maggie Belle's Memories! Please find us on Facebook for updates and fun information!
