Delicate, ruffled porcelain lace was the trademark of the Heirlooms of Tomorrow Company, and three layers of the gold-edged fragile lace are piled high on top of the cover of this pink porcelain trinket box. The center layer of ruffles is white, and the two other layers are of the palest green. A 1-1/2 inch diameter pink porcelain rose is nestled into the center of the lace top. A 1/8-inch wide band of gold adorns the open rim of the bottom of the box and finishes in a gold-drenched porcelain bow. Another layer of gilded green ruffles circles the box below the gold band, and it stands on three gold-trimmed feet.

This sweet Shabby Chic box measures approximately 4-inches in diameter and 2-3/4 inches tall with the cover on. The opening is 3-inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches deep.

Made by Heirlooms of Tomorrow, California between 1944 and 1955, the original foil label is attached to the underside and reads “An Original by Heirlooms of Tomorrow, Manhattan Beach, Calif.” in silver on a royal blue background. The inside of the lid also has the blue shield stamp bearing the Old English 'W' & 'B' and 'Heirlooms of Tomorrow, Made in U.S.A." The stamp is finished with the numerals 1430 and 21 in gold.

This lovely box was well cared for. As is common with porcelain lace, the delicate lace has broken off in a few places, with one noticeable spot on the cover, and a couple of them along the ruffle on the footed dish. This is not enough to destroy the beauty of this fragile little piece, and in fact, most of the gold along the edge of the lace is intact. The lace has the look of faded vintage, but whether from actual fading, dust, or merely age, I can’t determine. The delicate gold porcelain bow is undamaged but does show minor wear. The remnant of a recent price tag remains stuck to the underside. Due to the delicate nature, I have done very little cleaning.
