This wonderful Roseville urn-shaped green Magnolia 181 vase has a pair of angular handles. It is covered in an all-over green matte glaze shading to a deep blue-green with the raised stems and leaves being the darkest. A pair of raised magnolia flower blossoms on the front are creamy white with large dusty pink centers. The back of the vase has a single large blossom and a smaller pink bud.
This heavy vase is 8-inches tall and 5-1/2 inches in diameter at the top, 5-1/4 inches at the foot, and about 9-inches across the handles.
It is marked with the raised Roseville name, followed by “U.S.A. 181-8.” Roseville introduced the popular Magnolia line in 1943.
There is a 1-inch by 1/2-inch shallow chip on the underside of the base. This does not impact stability. There is another 1/8-inch shallow chip on the back of the circular foot. The vase will need some cleaning inside, and there is shelf wear on the underside of the foot. There are several pinpoint places where white shows through the glaze, but these are not readily noticeable.
