Here is the festive Red and White Striped Ice Bucket in the Country Club design by Yona for Shafford, Japan. The bright red and white stripes set a wonderful picnic atmosphere and will be great at your next party! The red stripes fluctuate with the shape of the piece and average about 3/4-inches in width. The word “Ice” is written in black script, with a black ribbon flourish above and below making the label stand out. The red and white plastic-covered wire handle is attached to the 1-3/8 inch button knob at each side.
This ice tub measures 6-inches in diameter, 7-inches including the knobs for the handle. It is 6-1/8 inches tall, 6-3/4 inches with the knob on the cover. It sits solidly on a 4-inch diameter foot.
Country Club was designed by Yona Ceramics for Shafford, Japan during the 1950s. The bucket is stamped in black “Country Club Designed by Yona 8761Y.”
These Country Club items are vintage pieces and may have minor flaws such as tiny edge nicks and non-discolored crazing. The circus-like colors are bright with minimal wear. There is a 1/4-inch edge chip on the foot on the right side, and there is an old, tiny edge nick on the cover that doesn’t show when the lid is on. The original cork liner is still present on the inner rim, though it has a 3/4-inch gap. There is edge roughness at the top of the white stripe between the I and the C. There is non-discolored crazing that is not highly noticeable. There are no other obvious condition issues. To preserve the bright colors, wash by hand before use.
