Intricately detailed multicolored blossoms decorate this Empress Dresden Flowers Luncheon Plate by Schumann Bavaria. No detail is missed on this beautiful plate. A central multicolor bouquet of Dresden flowers features a large, deep pink rose, orange tulip, and bright blue larkspur surrounded by smaller flowers in bold shades of purples, orange-red, yellows, blues, and greens. The embossed and scalloped rim is decorated with four cartouches of latticework outlined in scrolling gold lines, each with a different color blossom as though plucked from the center. The cartouches intersect a band of multicolor flowers in raised relief. The scalloped rim is trimmed with a double band of gold, and the inner rim is also gold trimmed. It's easy to see why Empress Dresden Flowers is one of the most sought-after Schumann patterns.
This gorgeous salad plate measures 7-3/4 inches in diameter.
It is stamped with the Schumann green Lion and Shield Crown mark with " Bavaria" above and "Schumann Arzberg Germany" below. This mark was used by Schumann between the 1950s to the 1970s. There is also a blue Gold Crown E&R Shield which was the mark for the exclusive importer Ebeling & Reuss. E&R dropped this line in 1976. The pattern name, "Empress Dresden Flowers" is also stamped on the back.
Other than expected shelf wear on the underside of the foot, there are no condition issues.
