These beautiful marigold-yellow stained plates were made by Westmoreland Glass, Design No. 229, Trellis Flower. A detailed and elegant wheel-cut design decorates the 1-1/4 inch rim of the plate. Twenty-four vertical panels are cut into the 12 molded panels of the glass with hair-thin lines. Trailing vines are cut on top of these panels, with detailed leaves and three eight-petaled flowers. This decorated portion is separated by another very thin cut line that rings rim. The 5-inch center of the plate is stained with a golden yellow.
Each plate measures 7-1/2 inches in diameter.
Made by Westmoreland Glass circa 1929, there is no mark.
These are difficult to photograph to show the design, so the color looks dark in some images. These are a deep golden yellow.
As with most vintage flashed or stained glassware, the color is uneven, creating a charm of its own. One plate has a tiny nick on the underside of the ground and polished foot that does not impact stability. There are no other condition issues.
These lovely plates would be perfect for a sweet backyard wedding especially when paired with the matching goblets available!
