This Antique American Cane Pattern Pressed Glass Inkwell is six-sided with a Brass-Hinged matching glass top. A light-catching pressed cane pattern decorates each side of this hexagonal glass inkwell. The matching top is attached with a brass collar and hinge.
This beautiful inkwell measures 2-3/8 inches tall and 1-3/4 inches across. Each side is 1-inch wide.
This inkwell was made in America circa the late 1800s. Though there is no mark, it is pictured in Veldon Badders Collector's Guide to Inkwells, Book II.
The brass collar is tarnished and the top doesn't close completely. On close inspection, approximately a half-dozen small nicks in the glass, especially at corners, can be detected, but even with these small imperfections, this 100-year old piece is still a treasure.
