This Wade Harvest Ware jug in the Plums pattern is decorated with wide brush strokes creating vivid stylized plums in purple and burgundy in three places around the jug. The plums are connected by a narrow curling vine and accented with green foliage. The heavily gilded wide rim extends 1-3/4 inches from the top, and the fancy handle is also lavishly covered in gold, sometimes called "Copper Lustre."
This gilded pottery pitcher measures 6-1/2 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. This pattern was introduced circa 1945, and it is stamped in gold with a mark used around 1953 "WADE Made in England, Hand Painted." There is also a gold artist's mark that resembles a lowercase "f."
There is a dark patina and some minor wear on the gold. There is non discolored crazing below the gold rim. There is some staining on the inside bulbous portion of the jug. (See photos.)
