This beautiful Depression Era Pink Elegant Glass Serving Plate is heavily Gold-Encrusted with Etched Pansies around the Rim. A gorgeous and seldom seen gold-encrusted pansy etch circles the outer 1-1/8 inch of this quality elegant glass pink plate. Leaves, scrolls, and small geometric designs swirl and flow between each large pansy blossom. The plate itself has the heft and feel of the higher quality glass of the era, with four 1/2-inch wide concentric rings on the underside, giving the plate its depth of about an inch, and ending in a 4-1/4 inch ground and polished foot.
Made circa the 1920s to 1930s, this lovely vintage plate measures 10-3/8 inches in diameter and 1-inch deep. The center is 4-inches in diameter.
As in most vintage pieces, there are normal, small surface scratches, and there is a 2-inch curved deep groove on the underside of the center of the plate, along with some sticker residue. The gold shows definite wear consistent with age, including a 1-1/2 inch scratch in the gold, but it is still lovely with no gaping areas of missing gold. There is also an old, smooth, 1-mm nick on the edge. There are no cracks.
I have seen a New Martinsville plate with a similar etch, or the weight and style suggests possibly Paden City, but I have been unable to confirm either.
