Gorgeous Rosina Heavy Gold and Colorful Flowers #5430/R Bone China Teacup and Saucer. The lavish gold that coats the inside rim, foot, and handle of this unusually shaped teacup makes this set a showstopper! Highly reflective, smooth, shiny gold covers the top 3/4-inch of the inner rim of the cup with another thin band of gold below that. The flared foot and fancy handle are also gold encrusted, as is the cup well of the saucer. The scalloped edges of both pieces are also gilded. The outside of the teacup and the upturned rim of the saucer are decorated with a beautifully detailed large eight-petaled flowers in blue, yellow, and deep pink. The flowers are accented with bright greenery and smaller flowers, leaves, and tendrils in chocolate brown.
The teacup measures 2-5/8 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter across the rim, with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 1-3/4 inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
The Crown backstamp with "Rosina" arched above and "Bone China/Made in England" below is on both pieces. This mark was used by Rosina dating as far back as 1952. The pattern number "5430/R” is also handwritten in gold on the cup.
There are expected surface scratches and wear on the shiny gold cup well of the saucer, but any wear to the gold on the teacup is minimal. The gold shows the patina of age and there are a couple of pinpoint pits in the gold rim of the cup, but the gold covers them and no white shows through. The gold remains highly reflective. There is a porcelain bump on the edge of the saucer that feels rough. This is extra porcelain and not a chip. There are no other condition issues.
