Here is a pretty set of four Florentine, more commonly known as Poppy Number 2, Depression Glass sherbet plates by Hazel-Atlas in yellow. The pattern, commonly known as Poppy, though its official name is Florentine, is an all over swirling poppy motif molded into the glass. Hazel-Atlas' two Florentine, or Poppy, patterns are often confused. Florentine Number 2 is characterized by round pieces, rather than the angled pieces of Florentine Number 1. The two patterns differ mainly in the shapes of the pieces and blend very nicely together.
Each dessert plate measures 5-7/8 inches in diameter. The center is 3-inches in diameter.
This unmarked pattern was made by Hazel-Atlas from 1932 to 1935.
As is common in vintage glassware, there are expected minor surface scratches, but there are no chips or cracks.
