This slightly waisted, Henley creamy white teacup and saucer set by Aynsley Bone China, England, is decorated with a flower basket and scrolls motif that rings the outside of the cup and the wide rim of the saucer. Overflowing with greenery and flowers in pinks, yellows, and blues, the ornate golden yellow and soft blue basket extends to the sides with elaborate scrolls in the same blues and golden yellows. Small flowers are scattered among the swirls of the scrolls. A detailed 1/4-inch band in matching blue and yellow rings the top of the cup and the outside rim of the saucer. The snow white center of the saucer and the inside top of the cup are ringed with a narrow band of gold. The rims of both pieces, as well as the handle of the cup, are all gold trimmed.
The York shape teacup stands 2-1/2 inches tall and 3-1/4 inches in diameter at the rim, tapering to a 1-3/4 inch shallow foot. The matching saucer measures just under 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
Both pieces are stamped with a Green Crown flanked by “Est. 1775” above the Aynsley Scroll, followed by “Made in England. Fine English Bone China.” The pattern name “Henley” is printed in gold Old English letters.
This pattern was made by Aynsley from 1985 to 1995.
