This Depression Glass Cane Bottom 10-Inch Topaz Yellow Sandwich plate was made by Lancaster #899. The gently scalloped plate rim has six small equidistant points alternating with the curves. The applied open handles are each made up of two scrolls of glass that are joined in the center with a three-lobed medallion. Numbered T899/4, the center of the plate has a design like the caned seat of a chair. The topaz color is a clear lemon yellow, deeper at the 5-inch ground and polished foot. The glass made by Lancaster during the Depression Era was often of finer quality than other glass of the era, and this tray is another excellent example of their quality glass. Imagine serving guests at a backyard wedding with this sunny yellow glass tray!
The plate measures 11-inches in diameter and 13-inches across the handles.
There is no mark. This pattern was made by Lancaster Glass circa 1932.
There are a few manufacturing flaws in the form of popped bubbles, and there are a few of the expected surface scratches consistent with normal use.
