Here is a whimsical Shoe Planter by James Kent "Old Foley" in the Harmony Rose pattern. More like a boot than a shoe, the heel is decorated with a pair of large roses in pink and white backed by green leaves, a pink rosebud, and smaller purple and white flowers. A smaller matching bouquet is on the upturned toe of the shoe, and sprigs of the small white flowers dot the shoe in four places. The top of the boot is edged with gold. There are four pierced holes for laces.
This small planter measures just 4-3/4 inches long and 3 -inches tall. It is 2-1/8 inches wide. The opening is about 2-1/4 inches in diameter.
This piece was made by James Kent sometime between 1955 and 1989. It is stamped in purple "Old Foley, James Kent LTD. Staffordshire Made in England." "Harmony Rose" in script completes the mark.
Other than minor wear on the gold rim consistent with use, there are no condition issues.
