Here is a pretty chintz Bone China tea cup and saucer by Rosina China, Longton, Staffordshire, England. This numbered pattern, 5042, is an all over chintz design of deep pink roses and pastel blue and yellow flowers. Pink tendrils and green leaves weave between the blossoms on a green dotted background. The scalloped cup and saucer are trimmed with gold, as is the handle of the cup, and there is a band of gold inside the top of the cup.
The tea cup measures 2-3/8 inches tall and 3-1/4 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 1-3/4 inch shallow foot. The matching saucer is 5-9/16 inches in diameter.
The backstamp is a gold crown with "Rosina" arched above and "Bone China, Made in England" below. The pattern number "5042" and the letter "A" are also hand written in gold on the cup. This mark was used by Rosina beginning around 1952.
There is a tiny extra bead of glaze on the edge of the saucer, and a very small nick down inside the cup that looks like a light stain, but it does catch your fingernail. It does not go through to the other side.
