Offered here is a pink Depression Glass center handled sandwich server in the beloved Mayfair pattern. Made by Hocking Glass from 1931 to 1937, Mayfair features an old fashioned open rose pattern is molded into the glass with alternating rayed panels. This pattern has been nicknamed "Open Rose."
This large center handled sandwich tray measures 12 inches in diameter and 5-1/2 inches tall.
There is no mark, but a hand written label on adhesive tape affixed to the back reads "Mom's-about 1928." Since this pattern was introduced in 1931, that estimate is off by a few years, but I've left the label on for the provenance.
There are the usual flaws common to Depression Glass in the form of tiny bubbles and a couple of creases in the glass near the handle. (These are not cracks.) There are also some minor surface scratches.
