Here is a beautiful Aynsley Bone China #2751 Floral and Gold Teacup and Saucer in the unusual Corset Shape. A motif of a multicolor bouquet resembling the popular Dresden flowers motif is repeated on the front, back, and inside of the teacup, and in three places around the rim of the saucer. Featuring a deep pink rose and large white flower surrounded by smaller flowers in bold shades of purples, orange-red, bright blue, and yellows backed by greens, a waving orange-red tulip reaches out from the floral arrangement. The inside rims of both pieces are trimmed with a leafy band of gold filigree that effectively takes on the look of brushed gold. The foot and handle of the teacup are also trimmed in gold.
The Corset-shaped Teacup stands 2-7/8 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches in diameter at the rim, tapering to a 1-7/8 inch shallow foot. The matching saucer measures 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
Both pieces are marked with the Green Crown flanked by “Est. 1775” above the Aynsley Banner, followed by “England Bone China.” The cup has the number 30 included at the end of the mark, while the saucer has the number 31. This mark was used by Aynsley from about 1939 to 1959. The pattern number 2751 followed by an artist’s mark is handwritten in red on the teacup.
There is a pinhead-sized nick that is not readily noticeable on the back of the cup when the handle is on the right, on the side of the foot. Any wear on the gold is truly minimal. There are no other condition issues.
