Add a touch of whimsy to your kitchen with this happy Pig Jam Jar by Otagiri, Japan. Wearing an open burgundy red jacket and pin-striped blue trousers that puddle around his feet, this anthropomorphic pig is decked out with a straw boater hat with a blue ribbon at the back and a matching blue scarf tie beneath the white collar of his shirt. His mouth is slightly open in a wide smile beneath his protruding snout, and his black eyes add to his happy expression. He carries a couple of loaves of bread in his right hand (shaped like a pig foot.) The opening for the included spoon is in the back of the top.
This chubby little piggy measures 3-1/4 inches side-to-side by 2-3/4 inches front to back. The bottom portion is 2-3/4 inches tall, and he is 4-3/4 inches tall with the cover on. The plastic spoon has a rounded bowl for dipping and measures 4-1/2 inches long.
Made by Otagiri circa 1992, the impressed mark reads “©Otagiri Japan,” and the original gold and black foil label is intact. The label reads “Hand Crafted ©Otagiri Japan.”
There is an old, smooth shallow edge nick on the underside of the top where it fits down inside the jar where it is impossible to photograph and will not show. The edge of the bottom, also where it is hidden by the cover, has a tiny glaze flake. Other than needing a little cleaning, which is magnified by the photos, there are no other condition issues.
