This sweet High-Heeled Porcelain Lace Shoe was made by "Heirlooms of Tomorrow" of Southern California. The shoe is fashioned in the style of the French Aristocracy of hundreds of years ago. Delicate, ruffled pink porcelain lace adorns the open edge and continues in gilded ruffles onto the toe where a ruffle of blue lace is sandwiched between two layers of pink to form a large pouf of lace. A ribbon of pastel blue porcelain edged with gold forms a delicate bow at the top of the heel. The knot of the bow is finished with a realistic pink porcelain rosebud with a pair of green leaves. The shoe itself has a hobnail texture and an aristocratic high heel.
This beautiful figurine measures 5-1/2 inches long by 2-inches at its widest. It is 2-3/4 inches high at the heel tapering down to the toe at about 1/2-inch tall.
The bottom of the shoe has the well-known blue shield backstamp bearing the Old English W & B and "Heirlooms of Tomorrow, Made in U.S.A." The backstamp is finished with the numerals 1016 in gold. The company became California Originals after 1955 and moved away from the production of its signature porcelain lace.
Made by Heirlooms of Tomorrow of California circa 1944 to 1955, this little shoe was well cared for. As is common with porcelain lace figurines, the delicate lace has broken off at the top where it curves down toward the toe, and there is another spot at the heel. This is not enough to destroy the beauty of this fragile little piece, and in fact, most of the gold along the edge of the lace is intact. The delicate blue porcelain ribbon is undamaged. Due to the delicate nature, I have done very little cleaning of the dust that collects in all the little folds.
