This beautiful pink Depression Glass divided relish dish by Hazel-Atlas is in the pattern named Florentine, or Poppy No. 2. An all-over pattern of scrolling stylized poppy flowers and intertwined vines cover the outside of this transparent pink, three-part divided relish bowl. The design is repeated in the center bottom section of this pretty oblong bowl.
Hazel-Atlas' two Florentine, or Poppy, patterns are often confused. The two patterns differ mainly in the shapes of the pieces and blend very nicely together. The pieces of the Poppy No. 2 pattern are not ruffled. This relish dish appears to have only been made in the Number 2 Florentine.
The oval shaped bowl is 9-7/8 inches long by 6-1/4 inches wide and 1-5/8 inches deep. There is no mark.
This pattern was made by Hazel-Atlas for a relatively short time from 1932 to 1935.
There is a 3-1/2 inch scratch along the inside of one side of the dish. It is noticeable but doesn’t seem to detract much from the beauty of this unusual piece. There are no other condition issues.
